Произошло во время Гражданской войны [ Civil War] 30 августа 1862 между южанами под командованием генерал-майора Т. Джексона [ Jackson, Thomas Jonathan (Stonewall)] и северянами под командованием генерала Дж. Поупа [ Pope, John] на берегу р. Бул-Ран [Bull Run Creek], шт. Вирджиния, в 25 милях юго-западнее г. Вашингтона. Северяне атаковали позиции Джексона, занимавшего их до вечера. Когда 1 сентября левый фланг северян дрогнул, Джексон перешел в наступление и добился победы.
